Cage Set-up for a Baby Biak GTP

I recently purchased a CB/CH Biak GTP from Kingsnake.com. It will be here next Tuesday, so I am going to buy supplies for the tank when I get off work today. I already have a 20gal arboreal tank, a ceramic heat emitter, and a rheostat. I have read several different things which I should/shouldn't include, different temps to go by, and it has made this somewhat confusing.

If you have raised a baby GTP, please give me some sort of checklist to go by.

Also, I read somewhere that I can use superglue to mount branches. Is this really safe?

id ditch the rheostat and get a thermostat. the ceramic heat emitter will dry the heck out of the tank and the snake. and the tank....what is an 20gal arboreal tank? is it just a 20 gal on its side or a hex tank?

not sure about the super glue. i would look into epoxies that will hold under high humidity.

oh and who did you buy it from?

what should i get for a heat source then?

i use pro products heat pannels. who did you get it from? is it a breeder? or a store?

When you say baby, I can only assume you mean neonate. One that still has not changed? If so you're going to want to get a tub. I use 6.5 qt tubs and 12 qt tubs for my babies. I used a 10 gal under tank heater with a reostat turned about halfway down. This is dependent on the room temp. You want ambient temp in the tub to run around 86 degrees. This might seem low, but babies can not withstand the heats an adult can, and if it gets too hot it will go to the floor. This is natural instinct, but bad if you use a UTH because it's warmer there. Super glue will probably outgas too much. I have used 100 percent silicone and let it dry in a vented area for 24 hours. Tubs are the best thing for these guys because they hold heat and humidity, and they are cheap and easy. If you get a tub you can drill the perch all the way threw, or use small, plastic, bolts to hold rod holders. More information about the snake size and age is needed. Also, I need to know if you are dead set on using a glass tank.

This is a pretty standard neo "cage", you can go with hanger pieces or live branches, etc...

This tub sits in a rack, but you can keep a neo in a tub with the top, place a heat mat on the outside back end of the tub and put it on a thermostat, solder a hole for the tstat probe and you should be fine. As far as the super glue goes, i would not risk it. Anyway, 6qt tubs work tons better than glass cages do for baby chondro's. Good luck

When you use tubs, i guess you just put holes in the top for ventilation?

Put the holes in the side so you don't compromise as much humidity.

Tubs are perfect for your little neo. Holes on the side to help keep the humidity in. your little neo will get dehydrated is u use ceramic heat. When the GTP is older a yearly u can move it to a display cage setup and use a heat panel. All my Gtp were in tubs till they were old enough to moved to a display cage and even one of mine I moved when it was 16 month old it was still too young and he freaks out easily.
