bugs (not mites?) on water dish

I have seen some small reddish brown bugs on my snakes water dish, she has had mites before but these don't look the same and I haven't seen any actually on my snake, any ideas??

She may still have mites as they are very good at hiding and will usually become noticeable on the snake after a severe infestation. Have your snake run through your hands and then take a look and see if you can spot and dark specks in your hands. Also, look around the eyes and in the mental groove (the slot under her jaw that expands when she eats).

I've been keeping a very close eye on her because I've een thru mite issues twice already :( unfortunately I didn't do the research I should have before I bought her and she came with the frustrating things from the pet store I got her at (grrr)
but they don't look the same, they aren't like little beetle's and they're light in colour
another thing is she doesn't have any white residue on her skin like she had with the mites before

What are you using as substrate?

probably wood lice! what kind of stuff do you have in the tank? their harmless but tough to get rid of, they love living in damp wood hides!

I am using some wood, it doesn't say on the bag what kind it is tho

it could also be little fruit fly look alikes that tend to run more than fly, but they do fly and have wings

there's your problem!! get rid of it... i used to have wood logs until i met those guys! google image 'wood lice' good luck...

how do I get rid of them if thats what they are?
