Should there be any concern of a BP not utilizing its heated hide?

I have a single female BP a 2009 CH import. I've had her roughly 6 weeks now and she's settled in well. She has a great feeding response taking every meal offered every while in opaque. Yet it seems the last 2-3 weeks she spent no more than 3-4 days on the hide over the heat tape. I think I have the set up within acceptable parameters and find it odd she's always in the cool side.

She is in visionarium (20 gallon long) with paper towel used as substrate. I have 2x plastic flower pot sources used as hides one on each end of the cage. One water bowl is located on the cool end and the tank is heated via 3'' flex watt heat tape. My house is getting cooler so I also have a 50 watt infrared light used 24/7. The cool cool sides ranges from high 70s to low 80s with the heat tape setup with a dimmer which I try to keep from 88-92. It does get cooler at night abit and needs slight adjusting from time to time. I use a fluke temp gun and check the temps typically a couple times a day. I know that snakes will select the temperatures they need yet also know that they will favor a cooler area if the heated area is too warm or the heated area if the ambient temps are too cool. I don't believe temps are an issue but should there be any concern?

I wouldnt think there should be any concern. All of mine differ, some like it hot, some cooler and some seem to just lay ontop of the hide.

That's why we offer a thermal gradient.

I find that my snakes often stay on the cool sides of their enclosures except after eating or before a shed.

Their choice!

I temp-gunned all the ball pythons in my rack today, and their temps ranged from 77.6 - 87.4 degrees - the two hottest ones were in shed. Go figure!

She is in shed now and on the cool side. I checked her and she's at 79 degrees right now so I guess she feels she is ok with that.
