    New guy checking in
    Hello Folks,

I have been catching, looking for and chasing snakes for about 60 years,
so i thought i would join this forum and aquire some knowledge about the Ball Pythons.

I haven't had a snake in captivity in about 20 years. At that time I had a 5' Canebreak that I caught here in oklahoma. I keep him in the living room for about 7 years. Prettiest Rattler I ever saw. Hated to give him away.

While in the Marine Corps back in the 60's I was statioed at Quantico, Va.
I lived off base with my wife and 3 or 4 Copperheads in cages.
I got careless with a little guy and he bit me on the finger. I spent 3 days in the hospital mainly because of the treatment rather than the bite.
My C.O came by to explain to me how stupid I was and how "filthy" snakes
were and I told him how wrong he was. About 3 weeks later I received orders for Vietnam. (NO real suprise) even though I didn't have enough time for a tour.

I have been toying with the idea of getting a Ball Python.

I hope I haven't bored y'all too much. I could spend all night telling stores about my "close" encounters" with rattle snakes in New Mexico & Oklahoma.

Anyway, I am glad I found this place.

I second that! Thank you very much for helping keep my butt free!!!

I am not affraid of venomous in the outdoors and I have run into my share, but I don't think I would ever take my chances on a hot pet(other than my trophy wife!)lol

I've had my BP for about 3-4 months and have loved it. He is the easiest and most enjoyable pet I have ever had. He always uses the restroom in the same spot, never makes a sound, and never makes my 6 yr old daughter cry(unlike my dogs) And besides all that, he puts on a real show with 2 big fat mice every friday! Good luck and thank's again.:salute:
