maaaaaaaaaaaajor problem

:tears: :( ok so heres what happened

last night i had the snakes all locked up in the cages and everything. double checked the locks..everything. went to bed.....everythings fine..no problem!

today was feeding day so i went to get a few live mice and dropped one in lily's tank. BAM gone...great feed awesome feed!

drop one in keatons tank.......nothing........not even pokin a head out the hide. i wait a couple minutes...still....nothing.....so i look in the hides....NO FRICKIN SNAKE!!! HES GONE!

i had the lid locks on, but they were more towards one side, so the only possible explaination i cn think of is he slid out the back end and went somewhere......last night......im freaking out. tore the room up, looked round in the whole house, cuz he coulda slid under the door. nothing...gaaah

now i had 2 snakes in the same cage so cannabalism came to mind..but lily is about 850-900 grams and keaton about 725-750..so im thinkin lily would be dead if she did or at least disfigured....

Having them housed together most likely made the snake want to escape more.

Sucks to have one get out! But don't panic. Continue to search. 95% of the time we get success stories of folks finding their escaped snakes...sometimes within ours...sometimes it takes a few days...and occasionally, a few weeks or more. But most often they're found fairly quickly.

They don't usually go far from their original enclosure. Start your search there (again! I'm sure)...and check every single little cubby hole, opening, crack, space...no matter how small. If you look at a space and think "No way he could get in/through there"...then CHECK IT. You'd be amazed at how small a space they will squeeze themselves into. Also, look UP. Check dresser drawers and BEHIND both the furniture and the drawers. He's likely wedged up someplace nice and snug.

Look for stuff knocked off of shelves or dresser tops. If you can, especially in the evening or early morning, sit VERY quietly in the room, with no other sounds going on (no tv or music)....read a book or something....and LISTEN. Sometimes you can hear them rustling when they're on the move. Scattered plastic grocery bags can help in this as well.

Also, sprinkling flour on the floor before you go to bed...then check for trails the next morning....might help.

thanks for the reply, yeah ik the risks, its supposed to be a temporary enclosure (3-6) months if that, until we move out, kind of came across the other one....a male pastel for 40 bucks....yeah hard to pass up lol i have 2 young snakes in a 30 gal. and equal hides and stuff. ik its bad but im trying to make it as comfortable as possible while there there ya know.... thanks again

of our three snakes, one is an escape artist...she has gotten out of her cage at least two times...the first time she was found about a month after her escape up and under my dresser. this last time she was found after about two weeks under the bookshelf i keep the cages on. both times i thought she was gone for good...(we live in a tiny house) dont give up on him..he'll turn up

Im not sure if you found him or not but here is my suggestion. I had my first female escape somehow still not sure how. We lost her for like 5 days, We looked nightly, dont panic is the first step. Second check warm dark spaces near the enclosure, I found mine in the rafters in my basement above the furnace right next to a hot water pipe. She was like 7 feet from her enclosure. Generally they don't go far. Also check closets, piles of clothes, shoe boxs, anywhere dark and cozy. Believe me we tore up our house looking for her and then just happened to stumble upon her as I was trying to get somewhere behind my furnace the flashlight pointed up and my wife saw her just hanging out watching us.

I hope you find him . I have one who escaped twice before we switched to locking tubs . I always leave the snake room door closed lucky for me or I don't know that I would have found her so fast . One time she was across the room under a shelving unit next to the heater. The time after that I noticed that the washroom was open in there and of course she would be in the toughest spot I could think of , In the corner under the cabinets tucked between them and the wall . Needles to say It took a lot of patience to get her out of that spot:rolleye2: Don't give up !

You could also try leaving a mouse in a box on the floor... If he disappeared on feeding day, chances are he may be a lil hungry. The smell of the mouse might convince your snake to come out of hiding.

I would also add, don't discount looking up either. When I had an escape (ahh love my racks, no more issues!) my BP decided to climb up the day bed that was in the room, then up the electrical panel and then pushed the drop ceiling panel up and climbed in the wall. No evidence left behind either. It was pure dumb luck and the refusal to give up that led to him being found a couple hours later. So they can and sometimes will climb.

he was inside of my brother in laws guitar box (that it was shipped in) right next to the dresser hes on! soo happy fed him today took it right away too!
