    My snake preferres me!
I tried several times today to hand off my BP to my son and he didn't want to go. When I finally got him successfully into my son's hands, hetried to come back to me! Is this normal?

    Anyway, it's cool!

Yep. My corn snake sometimes bites others who handle him.

I think its more about them wanting something sacure to hold on to. So when you are handing them over they dont feel like they have grip so try and grip onto whatever they can. My boa is always trying to get higher which can be a pain when im trying to get him back into his RUB. I dont think their brains can handle, emotions or anything like that.

Just like a baby, they feel secure with the one they are used to. I think they reconize their owner!

That may be true. I definitely don't think they are capable of higher level thinking, cognitive as such. They may recognize their owner, however. I still think it is cool!

Yeah, I'll agree that snakes can feel secure with certain people. Pickles is fine with me, but He absolutely needs to see my dad, if he is in the room. pretty much tries to leap off my lap to get to him.

For sure... anytime I offer Toby (pastel) to my roommate, he gets all restless and starts heading back towards me - or his favorite corner behind the chair. When I hold him he immediately settles in, and usually ends up perched on my glasses or head. :D

So while I know snakes aren't capable of human-type feelings, they apparently can show a preference for one person. It's probably more of a familiarity than a preference, but whatever. ;)

I think what it is, is they know a certain smell, and they associate secureness with that smell, i.e. We feed them, clean their tanks, handle them and such and they know our smell. I don't think they acknowledge us as owners because they don't know that meaning.

Exactly. :gj: As humans we like to attach emotions to it, but I'm sure it's just how you describe... but in their world, security is the closest thing they have to affection.

That is true with humans trying to attach emotions to everything. If a snake was able to show any types of emotions, I think a lot of people wouldn't be scared of them like they are. If dogs didn't act the way they do and show companionship and such, i'm almost positive people would fear them to. That and a snake has no legs.

I also believe this to hold true with Nostradamus predictions. He says something will happen this year big, and something does so then people try to relate it with other things that happen. In all honesty, something big has happened every year if you look at it. Also I believe this to hold true with horoscopes. I don't want to differ off subject too much though.
