crested gecko ?

A good friend of mine brought his gecko's to me to take care of because he doesn't have the time (i know, same ol story). Well they are both male, so have them seperated in two different 20qt tubs. Neither of them have tails, one of them had a necrotic issue with its tail apparently and after a while dropped off, now im thinking the back feet are going too, just looking for an opinion on this little guys feet.

Forgot, one more question. I have prepared crested gecko diet for them both, but i cant tell if they are eating it, how does everyone else know? I also offer waxworms which they will eat from my fingers. The previous owner fed strictly cgd.

Definitely cresteds. CGD is fine and can be fed by itself, but supplementing 1-2 times a week never hurts. With adult geckos it should be as easy looking for lick marks in the food. Plus, if it's leaving "presents" its eating ;)

Can't help you with the foot thing

I'm sorry, my thread title made it seem like i was asking if they were crested gecko's. My question was really about the first pictured animals feet, im wondering if they look ok? Because to me they look pretty beaten up, and the previous owner said its tail looked similar right before falling off. Any advice is appreciated, thanks again.

If they were being housed together the condition of the first gecko's feet is likely the result of being bullied by the other male. Males will either fight or one will dominate and beat up on the other. It looks like he has some scarring on his hips too--also likely from bites, which also more than likely caused the necrotic tail.

Just keep the feet clean and dry (if wet it can't scab over well) and make sure they shed okay until they clear up. He may have some issues with stuck shed on any raw, scabbed and/or healing areas until they are totally healed. If this is the case, soak the stuck shed and remove it carefully with a wet q-tip. You want to remove old skin, but not scabs if possible. Some stuck shed on top of the feet is okay if it is due to scabbed over areas, as long as it does not constrict the toes.
