feeding time!
si im going to start feeding my BP two mice at once. im just wondering if i should put both in at once and let here do business or should i wait till she has one entirely down before i throw the other in?

Re: feeding time!
Hi...I feed 2 mice at each feeding and I start with one first. Once the first mouse is down, the bp has realigned his jaw and starts to move around, I throw the second one in. Good luck!

Re: feeding time!
One at a time, make sure the other is completely down. I usually give a five minute break between to make sure they're ready. That being said, with BPs, I personally feel its better to feed one appropriate sized feed item.
I'll feed multiple items to a lot of my colubrids, but BPs can take a good sized food item. If your BP is taking more than one adult mouse, you may consider moving up to a single weaned rat instead. Rats are the direction you want to go in the long run (or short) regardless.

Why not just feed one appropriate size item?

Sometimes that's not an option. Either the larger prey is too large (as with the jump from rat pup to small adult), you can't get appropriate sizes at your local shop - or you have a snake like my Delilah, who will ONLY eat mice. When Delilah got too big for one mouse, I had to increase the prey number, since all attempts to switch her to rats (both live & F/T) have failed... so now she gets 3, sometimes even 4 at a time, since her weight is around 600g.
And to answer the OQ, you need to put in one at a time, or they can be harassed by the other mouse while working on the first. Like the other poster above said, you just throw in one and wait until they're done - jaw realigned - and then offer the second/third/etc. Takes a little time, but if you have multiple snakes like I do, it's not that much extra... since I use the time in-between to feed the others. Good luck! :)

Oh, and if your snakes eat in their hides (like a few of mine do), they'll usually stick out their head when it's time for number two... trust me, you will know they're ready. :D
