New to Breeding, What to choose???

Hey, there are so many options around Im not sure where to start. I was thinking about a pinstripe x lesser breeding for a chance of kingpins but now Im thinking about a mojave x lesser breeding for a chance of BluEL. But to be honest im just confused about where to go because of all the options.

What would you (personally) think would be a good place to start?

As for your question, it all depends on what really appeals to you morph-wise. Also depends on your starting budget, since not everyone can afford to make Axanthic Killer Bees their first season - LOL. So, what is your budget to start, and are you just looking to get one breeding pair? When I first asked about getting into breeding, the veterans here said basically the following to me...

- If you don't have a lot to invest right away, start with a normal female (preferably with some size already) and a co-dominant or dominant morph male; Pastel, Spider, Mojave, Lesser, etc. Then you at least have a chance at visual morphs in the first clutch, unlike when you're breeding recessive genes.
- Find your ultimate snake, like the Axanthic Killer Bee I mentioned above, and figure out the starting formula... which in this case would be Spider, Super Pastel & Axanthic. Pick two (or one with a normal), and get started on that project! :D

If I were just starting out. I would purchase two or three different codom females, and then a double codom male. For example, a bumblebee male, lesser female, cinny female, and a yellow belly female. That would give you many different combos, and all breedings would give you a chance at producing triple codom animals. If you are buying hatchlings, you should buy the females one year in advance. They take about a year longer to mature than males.

Thanks for the advice people. At the moment I proberly only have the money for 1 male 1 female of the lower end morphs, pastel/spider/pinstripe/lesser etc which together are around £800/£900 (which is got to be around $1300 USD) which isnt expensive in royal terms but still.

When I think about it I would say my ultimate snake really is just the simple the blue eyed leucistic, Which means I have answered my question lol

I think im going to go for mojave/LP.

At the moment im not really looking for a massive breeding plan. Just a mini one that will keep my mind occupied for the time being. Also Thanks for the links, I will give them a flick thorugh.


Edit : Am i right in thinking a Mojave x LP breeding will give each egg the a 1/4 chance of being a BEL, Mojave, Lesser or a normal?

Cool! thanks again for the help. Lets just hope the odd gods are with me when I finally get around to breeding lol, With my luck I will be a bunch of normals.

I agree totally. Bees are getting cheaper by the day and for your price range you might be able to work a Bee and a Lesser which would give you a bunch of combo possibilities. Queen Bees !:gj: Not to mention Lesser bees, Lessers, Pastel and Spiders.
