F/T Feeding question

So ive fed my snake FT rat the week before but i prescented with a mouse she seemed curious at first and ended up eating the rat slowly well this time i just warmed up the rat with a blow dryer after thawing and used the zombie walk trick she just struck defensively at it....idk what im doing wrong i left him in therefor a few hoursand she just didnt even go in to her hide jus spread herself out next to it and watched it? Weird huh? Tried again at. Night time re warmed it and did thezombie walk but same response im gli g to leave it over night to see what halpens. But any sugg.? Thanks

Interesting. I usually put the rat in a ziploc and then in some water i microwaved and i always prescent. Maybe the rodent want warm enough or too warm. Or maybe she wasn't into the dancing thing.

Well left it for a good nite and she didnt even touch it....uggh this is so frustrating now i gtta wait another week

Anyone have some advice??

Can you post a picture of the setup or give a good description of your husbandry?

Well shes in a tub with two hides a water dish and some moss to clutter things shes on newspaper humidty is 50-60 and temps warm are around 90 and cool 82-85

Not all are into "puppet" rodents. Most those will respond to the forward towards the face, then backing away or the pee-a-boo method.

The head must be warm to the touch! Wake you snake up first, either tap gently on the hide, or tap the body. Just gets things rolling faster.

Forward & Back:
Grab prey item with tongs by the scruff of the neck. descending into the cage/tub about 6" from the snake. Move towards the face stopping an inch short, wriggle, then retreat. It's the retreat that should get them interested. repeat a few times. should work.

Pee-a-boo:
I've some snakes that are a bit shyer or feed from the hide. For these all the same except, I tap on the hide & "peek" the rodent into it. This usually causes a lightning fast disappearance of the rodent into the hide! The second variation is peeking the rodent out from behind the cage furniture- hide or water dish. Pee-a-boo-then hide, repeat.

After a time you will know when your snake is interested, & how to work with the snake. It used to take me a couple of hours on feed night with my 30+, now it's a matter of minutes- less than 30. Once they know what's up some will even come to meet the rat! Be patient.

What size tub is the snake in?
