growth rate of a normal Burm
Im trying to find out a ball park age of my burmese. He is about 7.5-8 feet long. He has been very well fed from what i can tell. Can someone give me a ball park figure of his age by his length?

No way to tell really. They're not like trees where you cut them and count the rings. A question that would need to be answered is how long you had the snake and how much has it grown with you. Burmese pythons are known for reaching 10' in one year. However if you have not had the snake long and it's the same length now as when you first got it it may not have been fed very well when it was younger and could be 20+ years.
Re: growth rate of a normal Burm
I've seen a 5 month old male burm that's 2 - 3 inches shorter than my 7foot long 3 year old male afrock.
At the same time, I've heard of 7 year old breeder burms that never seem to go beyond 8 feet.

well when i first got him about 2 or 3 months ago he was 7 feet 9 inches to be exact. I didnt get a weight on him at the time. I have to do a cleaning of all my tanks tommorow and depending on his mood, ill measure and weigh him.
Right now im feeding him a Rabbit once every 10 days and that seems to keep him pretty happy. He is no longer striking at the plexiglass or acting just plain grumpy.
Re: growth rate of a normal Burm
I would hazard a guess that he's an '08. That would put him at a decent rate of growth for a yearling male. Hard to say for sure, however, as his previous feeding schedule is not known. I've encountered many males that size that were over 6 years old, and I've raised a couple that were that size by 8 months...

Its not hard to get a Burm to that size in just under 2 years, but saying well fed can be very perceptive, different opinions thats all...
Some things to consider are: Is he obese? If that's the case then he is probably very young... 1-2 years. Is he of "normal weight"? then he probably is in the 2-3 year range.
One thing is for sure.... you know that you have a healthy snake that you'll get to enjoy for another 20 or so years depending on how old he really is?
