My name's Tiffany, I located in the USA, midwest area...
Just joined in order to get more information on good beginner snakes and to have a forum to ask advice of. Very glad to be here, :D.

Any questions you have, you'll find plenty of answers to here (most likely).. and generally promptly too, since there are plenty of members like myself who spend WAY too much time on here!

With the proper research before acquiring an animal I think bps make excellent beginner snakes. Granted I'm bias since I've only kept ball pythons :D

Children's Pythons and cornsnakes also make good beginner animals.

And a note on the care sheets.. My personal opinion is that just because a snake says "intermediate" does not mean it might not make a perfectly fine "first snake" for someone. It just means they aren't as fool-proof or easy to take care of, or just plain get bigger than the snakes labeled as "beginner" snakes.

edit: and if you don't find a care sheet for a specific species in this site's care sheet section, just ask! we can surely get you at least looking in the right direction.

Welcome aboard, Tiffany. :) I am positive that you'll love it here. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. I have to agree that Corn snakes and Ball Pythons are the "easiest" starter snakes. I have one of each and love them both. Anyway, good luck with your first reptile! :banana:

I went ahead and found a couple snakes to start with. I felt I could handle two because I can afford it and have a reasonable amount of animal care experience.

I got a Ball Python, really sweet little guy, 3-4 months old.
I also, after doing research, got a Columbian Redtail Boa. It is a female, (was probed by a vet), however, she seems relatively smaller for her age/being female. I was told she's a yearling.

Any feedback on my choices would be great, and I do plan on posting and asking plenty of questions.
