I plan on getting a crestie in a month or two. im going to get an exo terra tank. what are some good live safe plants? also can you keep a male and female in together at all times or just during breeding. thanks

Some people keep pairs together year round, just make sure the female is up to breeding size.
I keep my two females together year round, and my males in their own seperate cages, only putting a female in with a male when I need them to breed.

Pothos is a pretty forgiving plant that would work well for you.You male and female do need to be separated for atleast 4 months so the female can build up her calcium reserves again.I hope this helps!

can a male and female be kept together and not breed? or do they just breed pretty easily

If you house a male and female together they will breed. If you do plan to breed, make sure the female is at least 35-40 grams and 12-18 months old and the male is at least 30-35 grams and 12 months old. Both should be in good health, on a diet of Repashy CGD and have good calcium reserves.
You need to separate the male from the female after several clutches of eggs are laid so that both can rest and the female can recover from laying. Females retain sperm and will continue to lay for anywhere from 3-6+ months after being separated from the male. Once the female has completely stopped laying eggs she should be given at least 6-9 months of time without reintroducing a male so that she can rebuild her reserves and rest. So really, you might have to keep the male separated for a year or more after being moved to his own enclosure, depending on how long she retains sperm.
