Heat pads at 2 different temperatures with one Thermostat
    Hello,

I have two 15 qt tubs that are being heated by two separate 10-20 gallon size Zoomed UTHs. I have a Thermostat(BAH 1000) that controls both tubs. The thermostat's thermometer is taped to one of the UTHs. The tub that sits on the UTH with the thermostat taped to it has a temperature gradient of 80-90. The other tub has a temperature gradient of 80-95. There is consistently a 3-5 temperature difference on the high side between the two tubs.

Does anyone else have this problem? How would I correct it? I have a baby in the tub that reads 80-90 but I will be getting another baby in a couple three weeks. How can I get both tubs to the same temperature?

    Thanks ahead of time.

Different locations or slightly different setups can affect how efficiently the mats heat. So long as your temps are steady, you can tweak the warmer tub to drop the temps a little. Lift it a little higher off the surface it's sitting on...allowing some air to circulate beneath the mat might help. If you're using paper substrate, lay down an extra layer or two....or if you're using aspen or something, put a layer of paper under it. The snake may still go under the paper, but 95 isn't dangerously hot, so that wouldn't be a big deal.

What I do is attach a dimmer to one of the heat pads and lower the heat that way. Works like a charm. :) $10 at any hardware store.

I do this since I have two totally opposite setups.
