Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
For the tanks I've seen pictures of here. Crumpled newspaper is getting into the water dish and soaking it up too much now, so I'd like to fill in the bareness of the cage with something else. Where do you folks get the fake plants from?
Re: Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
I get mine from the dollar store, they are pretty and cheap. Disinfect them first of course. Enjoy.
Re: Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
i wouldnt get the silk or coth based ones i would stick with plastic. its easier to clean that way
Re: Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
You can get them at dollar store, jo ann's (sp?), michaels and other similar places. The one at pet stores are very costly so go with one of the other places mentioned.
Re: Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
Wal mart sells 9 foot sections of plastic foliage for 5 bucks.
AC Moore and Michaels will occasionally run 40% off sales, and I try to pick up foliage from them during those times.
I know the AC Moore website also has printable coupons every week, and theres usually a nice 40% off one item coupon. If you bring friends or use multiple trips thats a great way to save money.
Re: Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
Hobby Lobby and Michaels have ALOT of fake plants. Don't bother getting fake plants at pet stores though they are over-priced.
Re: Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
Thanks everyone! Being a paper crafter, I'm at Michaels and JoAnns a LOT, but never thought to look at their fake plants. I have coupons for both places this week, so will go take a look. Thanks again! :)
Re: Where Do You Get Fake Plants?
The main difference between the pet-store plants and the craft-store plants is the suction cup that you can use to stick the plant to the side of the tank. Personally, I don't think it's worth the almost $10 difference between pet-stores and craft-stores, but if you like to check it out, go to the pet-store to see how the suction cup is "designed" and then go to the craft-store to see if you can make a suction cup thingee yourself. That is, if you think you'll need the suction cup.

How is that done?
I went to both Michaels and JoAnn's today, and both had their full lines of autumn colored foliage out. Very nice, but probably plain ol' green would provide a better contrast.
