    I have no idea if my new breeder is pregnant or just really fat since i have been feeding them a lot.
    Any tips on breeding them or getting them cheaper food are always appreciated. thx

    She looks pregnant to me, he hair is falling off her 'chest' which I have read is a sign they are close to giving birth.

    Usually a good sign of pregnancy in rodents is when they begin to groom the hair around their nipples, they do this to prepare to nurse their young.

    About when in the 3 week gestation period do they look like that? My girl is going on day 17 and doesn't look near that huge. She was in with the male for a solid week and he was on her like white on rice for the first couple of days, now she's in the birthing rack. Could he have not gotten the job done?

    Just like humans all rats are differant, some of mine don't really look far along and give birth to 13 pinkies.

    I have found if you hold them up by the tail when they are close to giving birth they have a huge pot belly and look like the swallowed a tennis ball.
