Ball Python wants me to die...

..because the flagellates in her system kicked up from some stress (says vet) and caused her to have diarrhea...so I have the oh so pleasant task of administering Flagyl. Here is what happened:

Basically, I had to give her a pill, straight down her throat. Worked well, used a credit card to open her mouth and a straw to hold the pills and slide them down her throat. Intense procedure. So these pics are from maybe 5 minutes ago, and Im just barely regaining feeling in my left hand. Based off of how tight she coiled andhow it felt, I reeeeeealllly feel bad for her prey. One more 1/4 pill to give her in the net couple days...we'll see how that goes. Yikes.

If she's eating you could just put the pill in the food and viola, medicated.

Too bad snakes don't like peanut butter. :/

Yeah she's not eating since her diarrhea began. Wasnt home to catch the first one, wifey threw it out while I was at work and told me it was kinda runny. No feces, no float. Waited for the second one. She hasn't eaten since the end of July. Two bowel movements, two months. Lost a LOT of weight, poor girl. She laid eggs in April, weighed in at 1200+, got her up to 1600 and my scale is dead, but Im going to guesstimate she's 1400 or so right now.

Yeah, would be nice. Or cheese. I think I'll get pics of the next time I administer meds so people can learn, but I had to go this one alone as the wife wasn't home.

I've watched force feeding and I once removed feces from the top of a snakes mouth before. Cracking their mouth open and putting things in or taking things out is not pretty.

No, no it's not. Good experience though.

For the record my hand is still feeling the effects...mostly in the wrist though.

Aw, poor girl! Hope she gets better! Looking at the color of your hand compared to what little arm was in the picture, she had a pretty tight grip! Hope you'll have better luck next time!
