Question related to Green Tree Pythons and Vivariums

Hey all. So later this year I'm planning on picking up a young Green Tree Pythona and setting it up in a vivarium. Where I'm running into a quandry is as it is a young animal you don't want to go too large in space due to the animal freaking out/stress etc. I also would personally prefer to not have to drastically change/replace the tank/fabrications/etc due to the snakes natural growth. Does anyone have any experience with these snakes in a vivarium environment, and if so what do you personally do? Any suggestions, thoughts, feedback is welcome . In the long run I guess I could make up a viv for a young-young adult animal and upgrade later on, however it's always better to conserve teh money in the long run. Also keep in mind that most of my experience is with ball pythons and bearded dragons, so if I'm off on the bit concerning space needs for a youngun Green Tree Python let me know :). Thanks all!

I just got a young GTP and until it is large enough (about 1yr in age) I have it set up in a 15qt tub.

I am using some of the "bendy branches" formed into a lattice for perching.

Also using a UTH for heat on one end of the tub, on the side, so the animal can thermo regulate.

I use 12 qt tubs on my neos. I would wait until about a year before considering a viv. There is actually a lil viv set up on MVF (will post link at bottom). It's a small set up, but you can elaborate however you would like. After the first year or so I would see no problem putting a chondro in a smaller adult enclosure. To me 24 cubes are ideal and I would not change it. If you plan on using 36x24x24 I would use a smaller cage until around 3. Also, if you get a baby, I suggest a basic tub with UTH and a reostat. I've used this set up on several neos and never ran into a problem. Also, as a new chondro keeper I suggest getting a yearling. It sounds like it will fit into your plans better, and it's more hardy.

Just like ball pythons, they can be intimidated by too much space, i would stick with 6qt's for baby's, at a year or so old i set them up in cages. Good luck;)
