Bedding
I read somewhere that the best bedding is rabbit food--which is alfalfa pellets, due to the fact its digestable.
Whats the best thing to use? Right now mine's on calcium sand but I've heard good and bad things about that also.
Thanks ahead for the advice :D

Re: Bedding
the alfalfa pellets are good i use crushed walnuts with my five beardies and havent had a problem yet you can also use paper towels too but the crushed walnut is easy to maintain and clean because you can use a poopy scooper and pick up the waste and dump it in the trashcan and then smooth out the crushed walnut

Re: Bedding
The safest and most commonly accepted approach for beadies is to use NO loose substrate. Especially no walnut, sand, and pellets of any kind. Pretty much anything they try to sell you at the petstore is not going to be right...
Pellets are bad for several reasons. For one, they mold easily. But there are several other reasons.
The best is slate or tile. Easy to clean (bacteria and parasites), no issue with mold, no issue with the beardie getting impacted (digested system blocked), helps keep nails trimmed, hard for crickets\live food to hide, and so on.

Re: Bedding
The substrate debate will go on until the end of time. Personally I use textured ceramic tile. For me it is easy to clean, cheap, trims nails so I don't have to, and lasts forever........if you don't drop it.
I used to use play sand but to me it was tooooooo dusty and I can only imagine what it was like for my beardie. Maybe I just got the wrong stuff?
I know of folks that use crushed walnut shells and have never had a problem.
Good luck!
