Everybody poops

Except Karley. I've had her since she hatched in january and she has made things very easy for me by pooping, sheding, eating, etc... regularly for the entire time in my care. Four weeks ago I moved her into a ten gallon tank from a tub and suddenly she stopped pooping. Her diet is one fuzzy every thursday; I'd weigh her but I dont have a scale.

The obviously there are some differences in her new home as opposed to the tub. The tub was the bare minimum, a thermostat, an infrared bulb pointed at one side of the tub, one hide, water bowl, and a rock, and she was thriving, very interested in everything, pretty predicable day/sleep night/activate cycle.

The tank has a UTH on one side with a properly sized half log hide over it, another, slightly bigger hide on the cool side of the tank, same rock, same waterbowl, same temperatures (made a custom lid and luckly it keeps humidity and temperatures just right.)

I've tried letting her soak in warm water for about twenty minutes, but that didnt work.

I'm just wondering what could even possibly cause her to stop going to the bathroom.

I am new to this myself, and I have a young BP, but she has been eating small rats since I got her. Maybe she needs a bigger meal. I feed 1 small rat once a week. I'm sure some more experienced ppl with post up soon.

She should be on three fuzzies a week. If she's nine months....

Plenty of BPs get to needing small rats at 9 months... I have never seen a BP that was only eating a small mouse at 9 months. They should be eating 10-15% of their body weight or a feeder as big around as the thickest part of their body.

Not saying it's related to pooping but I'd definitely switch out those hides. Half logs aren't secure enough for a ball python and 2 identical hides are recommended.

I'll skip the feeding suggestions already made by others and just iterate that sometimes a snake will go awhile without pooping. Expect a big gift next shed if not sooner ;)

They go when they want to go... Mine didn't poop for a good 6-8 weeks til after I got her.

Did you cover the tank on at least 3 sides and is it cluttered. The additional vertical space may be stressing her out some. Also, if she is only eating one mouse, and having a growth spurt, she may be absorbing as much of the available nutrients as she can, not leaaving much left over...

I don't think the no pooping is what you should be concerned about. Ball pythons can go well over a month with out pooping easily. Not pooping just means they are absorbing more of the prey item.

Your snake is considerably underfed. You should be feeding her small rats by this point in her life. Start with some adult mice and work your way up slowly. Your snake is probably very small from not being fed enough so you don't want to cause a regurgitation by jumping to a large prey size right away.

Also, you should get some different hides. Identical preferably. Half log hides are never appropriate for ball pythons in my opinion. Get some "rock cave" type hides. You can also use opaque plastic bowls and cut a hole in the side.

What are you measuring your temps with?

i was wondering about this my self my little pin only made 1 little poop in the 2 weeks i have had her and she has eaten 2 fuzzies and a hopper. I witnessed the little poop and she opened her mouth and made a little squak when she went. she has seemed fine since, She has shed and eated.

I've had my 2 Bps over a year they usually poop for me every once a week but sometimes they go like 1-1 1/2 months without going...they are fed 2 medium mice every feeding...but there's nothing to be worried about it will poop sooner or later...
