    How much climate control is needed?
    Im setting up a coloney and Im trying to figure out where to put my rat cages. Im thinking garage, shed, basement..... What is to hot and to cold for rats?

    mice and rats do fine in 70-80oF temps. Mine are in 78-81 and breed like crazy

    I have mine outside in a building connected to my garage and they have a fan blowing down the racks all day and a a/c unit hooked up but I only turn the ac on if it gets into the high 90's - 100's

    around 50-70 degrees would be most ideal, but i wouldnt go much over 80 or your numbers will go down

    mine are all garaged, its quite a sheltered area. the temps go upto about 100 in odd days in the summer, down to maybe 20f, touch lower even last year..
    they have no special heating at all, i dont even use bedding, they just make nests from the sawdust.
