what wood are pythons "allergic" to
I remember reading something about not to use a certain wood for substrate because it was bad for the snakes. Just curious what these woods are, and does it matter if the outer walls of a rack are made of these particular woods or if its only a direct contact with them that matters. Thanks

Pine and cedar. Don't use them if they will come in contact with your snake. Its not the wood that is the problem, it is the phenols in the wood that are harmful if inhaled.

So im using just a regular piece of plywood for the side walls of my rack and melamine for the shelves. Should this be okay? I know its not cedar and I feel like if it was pine i would smell a piney smell. What do yall think?

I wouldn't risk it personally. Just try to find some birch plywood or something.

Hi, i just got my first ball python and I cut some sticks for him to climb on and the wood is from a laurel tree. Is this wood ok for him?
