temps and thier influence on hatch time
I was wondering on the average how the temperature the eggs are incubated at affects how many days it takes for the babies to start pipping?
I have had mine incubating at about 88.5 avg. I am guessing they will hatch at 55 days. Is this about right?
Could some people post thier temps and the time it took fot the eggs to pip on thier own at that temp. Or at least the first baby to pip if you are a cutter. Id like to see what varience there is.
Thanks
Re: temps and thier influence on hatch time
55 should be close. Maybe a couple days longer. I have mine at 88 this year and they are taking about 60-62 days.

This is the temp I use & day 55 is about right +/- a couple of days. In the last 4 years the earliest for me has been 53, latest 60. I don't like to slit the eggs until at least one pips, but if no pips on day 58 I will slit them- I do NOT cut gaping holes in the eggs, a slit is all they need.
Re: temps and thier influence on hatch time
Genetics seem to play a role. Incubating at 88 to 89, some clutches began hatching on day 54, and others on day 62! Go figure.
Re: temps and thier influence on hatch time
i incubated my clutch at 89 and the first baby pipped at day 51.
Re: temps and thier influence on hatch time
I just had my last clutch of the season pip yesterday at Day 52 (I was planning to cut, but they beat me to the punch) and all are out today. I incubate at 89.
My other two clutches this season had not pipped by Day 52, and exited their eggs by Day 55/54 after I cut them. Also incubated at 89.
Re: temps and thier influence on hatch time
I incubate at 65 degrees and the hatchlings come out at 159 days with scarves on.
Hope this helps! ;)
