    Mouth Stretching
I have only had my baby Male SPider for a little over a week now. He has already eaten one hopper and is pretty good with me picking him up. I try to hold him daily so he will get use to me and my scent.

Yesterday while holding him, he decided to open his maouth like he was either stretching or yawning. He also did this after I placed him back in his bin. I dont believe he was in any threatening position, so I dont think he was irratated. It was a yawn exactly how they do it to adjust their jaws back from after eating. Is this a normal behavier to do this even if they havent just finished eating?

    Very normal. :)

However, if it's frequent or accompanied by drooling then I would suggest a trip to the vet.

He was born 5/22/09 I dont know if that matters or not.

I have never seen any drooling, he seems very healthy. The only thinkg that I notice is that I never see him in the water bowl. So I'm afraid he isnt drinking. Is this normal?

They will get most of the water their bodies require from their prey item. They do utilize the fresh water in bowls but I've actually only seen it a few times. Usually after eating.

Hrm, I see Aldous drinking fairly regularly, at least 1-2 times a week... that or he just likes putting his head in the water and moving the muscles in his mouth and neck a little... But yeah, snakes will yawn quite often, though how people manage to get good pictures of it i have no idea! :)
