    Mouse Houses
Basically, these are just little houses I made for my mice for birthing. I have no idea if they'll use them or not though. The specs on these in case anyone wants to make them: standard cardboard, 6 pieces that are 3 1/2" by 3 1/2", and masking tape to tape it all together.

This is the one I just finished. It's still a bit messy, but I figure the mice don't care what it looks like as long as it's secure.

Prototype being testing. Test subject off camera stuffing her face :| The prototype was made out of the same materials plus elmers paper glue. I decided to cut that from my next house due to how time consuming and messy it was.

Well I know my rats love things like that.

I don't know how big you'd need to make them for rats. Probably with a little experimentation you could find a good size.

As an update, the original mouse I had in the tank turned out not to be preggy, but the next one I put in was. I ended up turning the house upside down and taping it tot he walls of the tank with masking tape. The female absolutely loves it and that's where she had her pups. Since the original design was to have a folding lid, I still need to work out some kinks. Next design will probably just have four sides, but no bottom (need to figure out how to reinforce it) with a flip lid to make checking on the pups easier.
