transferable mites

hey there, i had a customer come into my store the other day and said he got a tarantula from (insert supplier here, i can't remember) that came with a lovely infestation of mites...and it got me thinking, can tarantula mites be transferred to our snakes? also, i saw someone elses thread asking about rat mites. i didn't want to hijack his thread, so i decided to post another. does each species have it's own specie of mites? i used to have budgies that were infested with mites once, this is why i ask. i have a few different species of things living in my house, and would hate to have mites!

so, how concerned should i be about my leopard gecko, cockatiel, or the fact that i work in a pet store? we QT all our new animals, and i hope mites aren't transferable on customers clothes but...you can never be too careful, right? what do you guys think?

Spider mites won't parasitize reptiles.
