Re: Blood python questions
Hmm, largest would probably be a XXL rat. It really depends on the animal, since bloods have a slower metabolism, they don't need a ton of food very often to gain and maintain weight.
For a hatchling, we use a 6qt. As it grows it goes into a 12qt, 21 qt, 40 qt, then up to a cage as needed.
Re: Blood python questions
I suppose a really big female would take rabbits or guinea pigs, but I agree with Connie, rats should be enough for any blood.
With hatchling tubs, you can experiment. Your snake won't eat if it's in a too-big tub. I've got my couple-month-old 12" breit in a 15qt.
I'd keep an adult in nothing smaller than an AP-10, possibly something a bit larger for big females.
:gj: Bloods are the coolest snakes out there! Good luck!
Re: Blood python questions
Just thought I'd add that along with what has been said regarding prey size for the adults, with the larger sized prey you don't need to feed them every week. There's too many obese bloods around as it is, no need to add more to it. ;)

Re: Blood python questions
Large Rats here as well.
I'm feeding Large Rats every 14 days to my adults.
