BP Noise? Should I be concerned?
I'm trying to figure out if I should be worried about my adult BP, I've had her for 2 weeks and I've heard her make a few short "hiss" noises. She doesn't do it often, but when she does it seems to be while she's exploring something new (my hair, new substrate, new hide).

I'm aware BPs can get RIs, but she is not wheezing or making any other consistent noise, no weird noises when she breathes... She also does not have any fluid near her mouth or nose- I check constantly.

I'm new to BPs so I'm trying to be proactive.. I made a few phone calls today and found 2 reptile vets in my area. Should I make an appointment or am I worried over nothing?

Well, noise while breathing is a symptom of an RI but I believe it is not enough to diagnose the snake with an RI. Keep an eye on her and if she develops any other symptoms, heavy wheezing, drooling, bubbling around the nose or mouth, holding her head up with her mouth open, THEN schedule an appointment.

Noise when breathing is more often then not just stuck shed in the nostril.

I don't know about exploring but when I switched Aphrodite from mice to rats the first time she struck and constricted she made a few hissing noises.

i had a question about the same thing last night and someone told me that it's either stuck shed or that he's just inhaling quickly so it'll sound like a wheeze or a squeak, kinda like the noise we make if we do the same thing

    Thanks folks!

I'll try to keep myself from worrying too much.

I'm not sure if the noise has anything to do with exploring or not... Probably pure coincidence. She made the noise right in my ear once, kinda startled me lol

Part of the reason why I'm so worried about her rhespitory health is the fact that her previous owners are HEAVY smokers, and did the majority of their smoking in the same room as the snake cage. Poor girly has been putting up with the smoke for years :(

Doesn't seem like it would be an RI, but that is one of the symptoms (starting symptoms). I doubt your snake has RI, though. My female does the same thing, and she's completely healthy. Just keep an eye out of any other symptoms.
