    Help Identify Carpet Python
So I purchased this about a month or two ago. They say that she is a female "Jungle Carpet Python" although from your images of what the snake should be is different.

Also, the snake is roughly five feet long, when I bought the snake they had been feeding it 3 large mice weekly, I continue to do this. They will eat tomorrow.

    Thanks!

I highly doubt that your snake is a jungle. There is just way too much coastal influence. There may be a wee bit of jungle blood in there, but it would be safe to just say that you have a carpet python, Morelia spilota americanus.

I am curious, what makes you think it is a jungle?

Jungle Carpet Pythons are very yellow. I always thought that I had a coastal from what other members had.

jungles are defintiely not always yellow... in fact, in australia, where they are locally found, many would look like what most americans would consider coastal carpets.

that snake appears to have mixed traits, but the big giveaway for me is the head. i've never seen a pure jungle with a head pattern like that. head patterns are almost always solid black in a jungle.

the pattern also looks more coastal than jungle...

    Good points Colin.

What you guys are failing to see is that Americans have selectively bred jungles for the vibrant yellow colors that some so often believe it is the only way a jungle is supposed to look. Jungles are not always yellow and black. Even in some of the best high yellow clutches, you will have a few that do not turn out very yellow.
