Feeding baby burm

So my friend hatched out a bunch of albino burms and he gave me one. I have ball pythons and boas, but no burms. He is about three weeks old or so and he has not shed yet. Do I need to wait till he sheds to feed or should I go ahead and attempt to feed him? How long till he sheds do you think? He looks very healthy, but I am just curious.

They need to have there first shed before offering food

That is what I thought. Thanks for the info. I only ask because the guy I got him from said it should be OK but I didn't think it would be.

Feed it now!!! You do not have to wait until they shed before you feed them. I have had babies that have eaten at 2-3 days old. In our years of baby burm experience the sooner they eat the better.
In fact my husband will dangle f/t rat pups over an egg to try and coax a baby to come out!!!!

I would suggest waiting for its first shed... The person That said to feed them right away, may be right, but then again, how smart is it to coax a hatchling out of the egg with a rodent? What happens if another baby burm decides to grab it as well? I highly disagree with any methods involving feeding a snake still coming out the egg, and any methods to get a snake out of the egg without it own will to do so by itself.. Listen to Denial, he has lots of experience with these guys... I'm not saying that "TheresaBearden" doesn't have just as much experience with them, but i'm not aware of her experience.. And disagree with there method...

Denial has never produced a clutch a baby burms, I know him personally and he's a great guy but has never bred burms. I have been breeding them for years and as far as trying to coax one out of the egg-it was my husband being a goofball while we were feeding others.

Once again I stand by what I stated before-you can feed them before they shed for the first time.

Oo... Okay, that just about sums it up LOL! Sounds like something my dad would do...

I have never tried to coax hatchlings out of the egg before but I have also like Theresa had some eat at 2-3 days ouut of the egg. The thing about them eating so soon is they do go through their first shed faster.

Well, I am going to feed it today or tomorrow. The baby burm in question is almost four weeks old and has not shed yet.

I fed him yesterday. I had an extra hopper I showed to him and he was real curious at first and would just scope it out, but finally he hit it and had no problem eating. He is a happy little guy too. Every one of the babies from his clutch were friendly except for one that was a little nippy. Being my first burm I am glad he is so docile.
