This is my new 2006 American Lifan 250cc!

Just got this sweet little bike for 1300 with only 400 or so miles on it :)

Went out on our maiden voyage today, and it was excellent!!! Im addicted already, and truly i missed being on two wheels. There is nothing else like it!!!

Not really a big fan of the 250's, but it's a good starter bike.

Oh, you lucky. My dad's big into bikes and he peaked my interest in them when I was a little kid. I would love to get into them too, but they say they'll disown me if I try to get a license.

    lol they arent so bad.

If your dad is into them, you should just... see, if he will teach you. At least then he will feel more confident that hes showing you how to be responsible on one, and maybe he will have a new riding partner? :)

It's more my mum than my dad. He'd be happy to teach me if my mum wasn't constantly hanging over his shoulder making sure he doesn't. I've been trying to teach myself about engines and shifting gear on bikes etc for the past few years, in the meantime. Maybe some day they'll get used to the idea.

Its simple! just listen to the engine. Youll know when you have to shift, its really a no brainer. if they might eventually let you, you could always do the Motorcycle course, and they will teach you everything you need to know to be a safe rider! :D Id almost work on convincing mom on that, you dont know what you are missing!!! :D :D :D

My first bike ever was a ZX1200, and I took a good fall on it.

I plan to not do that, if i can avoid it!! Which is also the reason for a bike that is not so powerful ( And theres STILL a LOT of power in this thing!!) I had a few close calls with my moped when i was riding it way back when i first started riding, so regardless of engine size, they can be and are dangerous! In my opinion/experience thus far Sand is your number 1 enemy. ive hit sand a few times when i was only riding a moped, going pretty slow around a corner and had the rear slide. Interesting feeling, that.
Next comes user error, like not putting the kickstand up. Did that, went around a corner on a VERY busy street and hopped the bike. THAT is scary. I didnt dump it though. Yep, learned my lesson then to never get lax, even for a second.

The one time i did dump one of the scooter/mopeds, was when i was standing next to it, kickstarting it, i did something, and slipped and yanked the throttle, the bike rocked forward off the center stand, and hit the dirt running. Jumped out of my hands and hit the dirt. :)
Also, when i was very new, i, for one reason or another, lost control while turning, went over one of those cement rain ditch things, and basically jumped the thing down. (I had to yank up pretty hard on the handle bars to get it to land flat) Landed it, and got back on the side of the road.
