F/T question

I'm trying to swap my 2-3 month old bp from live to f/t. First time today, and he hit and wrapped it no hesitation, and kept it wrapped for a few mins like normal. Afterwards though he just lost interest and went back to his hide. I left it in there for around half an hour and he never even looked at it again. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!

This has happened to me as well. Once it happened because my ball python was in shed. The other time it happened she was not in shed. I waited two days and offered it to her again and she took it without hesitation.

Happened to me before as well. Take it out, throw it out. They get bored I guess. Make sure it feels warm in your hands so it doesnt get cold too quick while theyre constricting, I guess they feel the cold dead body and lose interest that much faster.

He did shed yesterday so maybe that had something to do with it. Try again in a few days I guess thanks yall

When the snake has the rat constricted, keep moving the rat with your hemostats. The snake will constrict harder and it will simulate a live kill better than just leaving the dead rat in the coils.

yeah i would say the fact that he struck it and coiled it is a good sign that hes willing to take them. Mine won't even do that, they look at it and then there like "nice try buddy!!"

Yeah at first I was worried, but i've bein seeing some people who's bps won't even look at them. So I'm thinking he shouldn't be too bad, he's got an awesome feeding response

your lucky, I wish mine would take f/t just so I don't have to worry about going to pick them up every week. Very convient!

Mine are all different.

My big female--who used to refuse every f/t feeder I'd give her--now takes f/t without hesitation...though almost every single time, she "loses" the rat and has to spend upwards of 20 minutes trying to find it again before she eats it. >.<

My lesser male will take f/t, but I have to make it keep wiggling after he strikes. Otherwise, he'll coil around it for a little while and then release it, giving me a look like, "Nice try, Mom, but I know that was a dead one."

So yeah, sounds like he's just bein' a little picky. Hee. ;)

Yep that's the main reason I want to. I have to drive across town for mice, so frozen ones would be nice
