quick question on genetics
EDIT: just read the title, and sry its not so "quick"
out of curiosity:
if u breed albino (or any other recessive) to a norm, u would produce norms 100% het for albino: correct?
if u breed albino to het albino, u would produce 50% albinos, 25% norms and 25% 66 or 50% het for albino: please clarify @_@
if u breed het albino to het albino, u would produce 50% albinos, 25% norms, and 25% norm 66% het for albino: correct?
if u breed albino to albino, u would produce albinos and norms 100% het for albino: correct?
if u breed het albino to norm, u would produce norms 33% het for albino, correct?
if u could just answer as if it were a survey, and list clutch percentages, that would be oh so helpful ^-^
just want to clarify all of that, and i'm all set lol
TIA

Correct.

You're right, and it would be 66% het. Since you know the albino offspring are homozygous, and there are 4 possible outcomes, that leaves 3 normal looking offspring. Therefore, 2/3 of the normal looking ones will be het for albino.

Het x het = 50% het, 25% normal, 25% albino.
Quote:

Albino x Albino = 100% Albino

Albino x Normal = 100% het for albinos
Here is a program I found useful when learning genetics. It is written for corn snakes but it applies to any recessive traits.
Progeny Predictor

Re: quick question on genetics

Oh, right. Het to normal is 50% normal, 50% het. I think that covers it :gj:

Re: quick question on genetics
LOL: SORRY: but is that 50% het, 33% het for albino or 50% het for albino?
sorry ><

No, a recessive super to a recessive het will produce supers and 100% hets.

No, this pairing will produce 25% supers, 50% het and 25% normal. Because the 50% het and 25% normal look identical, they're all called 66% hets (2/3 = 66)

No, super to super produces all supers.

No, you produce 50% het and 50% normal. Again, because you can't tell the difference between the two, they're all called 50% hets.

Re: quick question on genetics
im just gonna keep adding to the list then, bc im making a little document for me to ref ^-^
would a rec (albino, or axanthic, etc..) technically be a homo of hets?
Simple Dom:
dom x norm = 50% dom + 50% norm
dom x dom = 75% dom + 25% norm?
*********************************************
Simple Co-Dom:
co-dom x norm = 50% co-dom + 50% norm
co-dom x co-dom = 25% norm + 25% co-dom + 50% homo?
*********************************************
Simple Homo:
homo x homo = ?
homo x co-dom = ?
homo x norm = ?
homo x dom = ?
homo x rec = ?
homo x het = ?
thanks so much if someone can help me fill in teh blanks ;D
and if theres any other simple combinations i've missed, if u can just add those in and give teh stats please
