    Question about Normal Pieds
I've been looking at pied genes and I was wondering if someone could help me with a question I can't seem to find an answer for.

When it comes to pied percentages (like a high white or a low white) is that genetic? Or is it just random what the babies will get. I've noticed a high white pied sells for more than a low white, but is that just for appearance, or is that because their babies will have a higher probability of being high white?

    Thanks,
    Dustin

Seems to be rather random. From what I've seen, low white can throw high white, and the opposite. Just from what I've noticed, your results may vary.

I have seen both come out. I had a 20% white pied and a 90% white pied both from the same litter. The father was a 10% white pied. I think it's random but I do hear if you have hight white to hight white breeding together you have a better chance of high whites.

The higher white Pieds are more sought after kind of like an expensive painting. However a no white Pied is also very sought after and carries a rather high price too.

No matter how much white the piebald has in it, it does not affect how much white the babies will have. The amount of white a piebald will produce is completely random.

Therefore, if you are just looking into breeding, I would say to go with low white piebalds. I say this because you could always do hold backs and keep what ever baby you want. If you are just looking for one as a pet, get whatever pleases you the most, and make sure you are happy with it.
