    Here's my problem:
I am currently Boa-Sitting an approximately 6 foot BCI for a friend of mine and i am having trouble getting a good substrate. He gave me a large piece of astroturf, however i am lazy and really dont want to have to scrub it everytime it needs cleaned. I've tried paper towels and newspaper, but she just seems to crumple them up while moving around. I know the astroturf is better for this because it is one piece that contacts all sides of the rubbermaid and therefore cannot be moved around when she is moving around the cage. I guess my question is: does anyone know of a way to secure the newspaper so that it doesnt move around all the time while not taking away from the ease of cleaning?

Make any sense whatsoever, or am i just being wierd again? ;)

hmm makes sense but it's a tricky question... perhaps adding a layer? I'm not really sure of any other way but double sided tape... and really that would probably pose more of a risk to the snake than a benifit to the substrate security.

Carson, here's the solution: buy more Astroturf, then when Chris comes for Sprocket, present him with a pile of soiled astroturf and a bill for the $6 or so that it cost you to buy more.

What about using a heavy water dish or rock on each side to weigh down the newspaper so they can't toss it all around?

I have found that two things work to keep the paper from moving.... first before putting the paper down in the cage lightly mist the floor with water. Then put down 4 or so layers of newspaper and lightly mist afterwards. Most of the time that will keep all the paper in place.

Thanks Stormyva, thats a great idea. I'll try this next time she decides to go to the bathroom. For now, i've just gone back to the astroturf.
