3 month old male snake 224g- too big?
Hi y’all! First a thank you- first time owner and I stalked these forums before getting “Sunny” and gained so much valuable information. Got out first BP, a banana lesser boy, on 7/15. He was 170 g when I got him and eating live rat fuzzys and softtail rats. The seller actually fed before he came home with me to show me how to do it. Left him alone for 10 days, during that time he had a nice full shed. He ate after shed on 7/25 ( he took a frozen thawed rat fuzzy at 20g just fine- SUCCESS). We handled a little last week, and then on the 31st he took another fuzzy (25 g). So today I was handling and weighed- he’s at 224g. Looking at all the forums that’s big for a 3 month old boy. He hasn’t pooped yet, so maybe it’s that? Is there a chance he’s a female not a male? ( the breeder probed him to confirm) hes eating well, hide-y during the day, and has started warming up to us. Just wondering if anyone has had a big baby and if I should make any adjustments.
thank you again!!

A few years back my daughter did a science project to track how efficiently baby snakes digested their feeders as they grew. She would weigh the feeder each week and weigh the baby snakes immediately after a bowel movement for consistent results.

I don’t keep BPs anymore, and I don’t weigh my snakes, but if you’re feeding him an appropriately sized meal every 7-10 days he should be just fine. The rat fuzzys you’re using should be a perfect meal for him.

Thank yall for chiming in, he hasnt had a BM so I will assume that is some of the growth, and I will quit over analyzing. I also read some research that snakes on rats grow at a faster baby rate than mice, and the breeder had him on rats from the start (Softtail rat).
