Vet visit
My big guy has an appt tomorrow. Already worried he has a RI. It's cold and snowing. Any tips on how to transport him are welcomed. Thanks so much.

Re: Vet visit
Maybe put him in a drawstring bag and next someone's body? Like under their sweater?

Not quite...yes, first bag him securely (pillow case or cloth snake bag- use a large twist tie to close, then fold that part over itself & secure w/ rubber band).
Then put that snake-in-a-bag into a styrofoam "ice chest" (of any kind, can be styrofoam box only, or cooler type), & fill a non-breakable bottle with very warm
water & include that with a towel for padding in the box...he'll stay cozy. Good luck! If you have far to go, or are afraid of getting stuck, do take extra thermos
of hot water in case.
In a real pinch, yes, I've kept bagged snakes in my shirt, but that can really distract your driving, especially if he takes a dump...LOL. That reminds me,
an extra cloth bag is a good idea too. ;)

BTW, if the cooler you use is WAY bigger than the bagged snake, using an extra towel (etc) inside will help insulate AND reduce the amount of air you have
to keep warm. But the basic concept of a hot water bottle got me thru days without power after an ice storm...the "ice chests" holding my bagged snakes
remained a balmy 80-82* for about 8-9 hours, when I changed the water. They were all fine after our ordeal...if only I could have fit into an ice chest...

LOL yeah taking a dump in your shirt would definitely be a distraction!

Re: Vet visit
I have an actual ice box cooler on wheels with a handle. But it has to be Styrofoam, huh? I don't know if I can find one at this time of year [emoji19]

That's just fine...all "ice chests" are insulated...that's the idea. And if I were you, I'd fill several jars AHEAD of time & put them in the cooler for an hour or so BEFORE
you plan to leave...that would pre-warm it, instead of starting from room temperature. :gj:
