    Breeding Feeders
How many of you breed your own feeders? Any pics of your feeder setup?

Use to..... wanted my life back!!
200+ breeding females and a lot of cleaning that took most of the weekend to do it right.
Quit a couple years ago and still trying to get all my snakes to eat f/t.

Am just starting into it. Pickup 1.3 Rats of breeding size in an established Colony on Monday.

Have no need of anything larger than weenlings atm, so no grow out tank, just taking babies away from mommies.

I will be selecting some Females to hold back for a 2nd generation though, so will see.

I’ve got one now that refuses F/T. I’m still working with her on it but she’s pretty set on live mice. I picked up three females and a male today to attempt to breed. I’ve only got two snakes so one breeding should set me up for a while. If nothing else it gives me something to do!

I have (4) 1.3 colonies of fancy mice. I feed off the ugly or mean ones then sell the others as pets. The money I make from the pet sales buys frozen to supplement the feeders. I sell one fancy pet mouse and it can buy me 5 frozen mice. Currently I'm breaking even with the cost for feeding.

I also recently started with asf.

I could probably do another two or three colonies before it started to get to time consuming.

I’ve looked all over for live asf to breed without any success.

Depending on where you are located you can try local reptile facebook groups, local shows, even my local mom and pop pet store has them for sale as feeders.

I got mine from a local reptile show. A guy selling snakes mentioned he bred mice and asf to feed his snakes. He liked the genetics of my fancy mice so I gave him a freshly weaned colony of satin piebald's and told him to kick a few asf's my way when he got heavy with them.

I do I produce a few thousands each year, setups are pretty easy I have 4 racks (6 concrete tubs racks) and I have a freedom breeder rack for mice with 2 level to rat birthing level for rats.

I have 15 males and about 100 females that rotates between those males, mice I run 1.2 or 1.4 per tubs depending on what I need (the mice colony can be anywhere from 5.10 to 20.80 depending on the time of the year).

I'm a small breeder, but here are a few pics.

This is my mouse rack. I made it by installing hardware cloth over the drawers of this storage cart and adding a watering system. I usually have 13-20 breeder mice at any given time.

This is my nursing rack for rats. I bought this rack off another breeder and did the watering system myself.

I don't have a picture of my big rack, which I paid a local guy to make for me. It's the typical type with cement tub drawers. I usually have anywhere from 14 to 22 breeder rats.
