    Preventing Breeding Mode?
I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent my ball from going into breeding mode?

She's laid eggs before and weight wise never fully recovered from it. I don't think she could handle it again.

Breeding mode? Is there such a thing? Maybe you could explain what breeding mode looks like?

I don't know. I assumed there was such a thing. Breeding season, whatever.
I just wanted to know if there's anything I can do with her environment (Temps, lighting... ) that would discourage her from laying eggs.

You really can't stop her cycling each year, but if she's not paired with a male - assuming she doesn't retain sperm from last season - then she will simply absorb the follicles and not lay eggs.

Ah, Okay, that makes better sense. Technically there is no breeding season. If she feels like conditions are right (and she has retained sperm) she could lay eggs. Its not unheard of but its not super common that you would have to worry about it too much. The right conditions are pretty much the same conditions you should have your ball python live in for her to be comfortable. If she is not paired with a male though, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Is she living together with a male? If yes, you cannot prevent her. When she feels ready, she'll ovulate and will give eggs or slugs(the worst scenario the egg bounding due to her condition). But if you separated them before the last egg laying, you have really low chance that she have retained sperm.

Keep the temps the same all year round?

She's not living with a male and has never been paired but she still laid eggs a while back.
OK thanks guys. I was just hoping there were preventative measures I could take.
