Humidity: how low is too low?
I have been tinkering for the past day or so with my new viv getting it sorted for my Super Pastel that is arriving next week. My humidity is sitting between 48-50%, is this an acceptable level? I will be supplementing with a damp hide and I am currently experimenting with water bowl positioning to raise it higher, but is this range acceptable for a BP?

Yes, that's ok. Also the addition of the humid hide will likely raise overall humidity a bit.

I aim to be around 55-60. But 50 wont hurt them but you want to raise it during a shed. 50 will result in a bad shed. That's what I notice.

I have been having the same issue too
except I can't get my humidity up
I got a used boaphile enclosure and one side was modified to fit next to another leaving no way to close the vents
I've tried foil and Plastic wrap
if I mist the humidity will go to 61% for about 12 hours and then go back to 31%
    im using newspaper as substrate

Speaking as a beginner, but from what I understand, newspaper or paper will not hold moisture for long at all, so all your misting will raise the humidity but none of the moisture will be trapped for long in your substrate. I am using aspen at the moment, which can hold liquid, but as someone advised me to use cypress mulch, which holds moisture way better. It is still proving a bit tricky to bump it past 50 for long though

Do you think if I suppliemted with a damp hide I could avoid a bad shed?

Humidity at a constant rate of 50% should be ok. An extra 5-10 % will be fantastic [emoji256]

If you're having trouble maintaining humidity with newspaper I would try switching to eco earth or cypress mulch. If you wanna keep using the newspaper for convenience, maybe try putting a small container of cypress mulch that has been moistened on the hotspot.

I have switched to Cyprus mulch cause I was just concerned with possible Impalement on my snake
I been wiping the tank down and ringing out a wash cloth every morning to help keep the moisture up
