Day 53 of Incubation, Several "S" shapes forming on the top of the egg, Time to Cut?

Hello all,

Ok keep in mind, this is my first clutch. Its day 53 and I'm noticing that over the night some pale blue S shapes have formed on the top of the egg. Is this a hatchling attempting to pip on its own? I am of course worried about drowning but I wanted to wait until I got a pip before cutting because this is the first time I have ever cut. Let me know what you think I should do.

That is weird! I have no clue, but hopefully it is a good thing!

I'm also seeing some other weird activity going on, another egg kinda has like a crease/slit running the full length of the bottom 1/3 of the egg horizontally. Just wish theyd go ahead and pip so I can open the rest :rolleye2:.

If you are at 53 and are incubating them at 89 or 90 degrees I'd cut them. I've never seen anything like the s shapes appear on eggs.

Ok, decided to go ahead and cut them, all appear to be ok. Very little capillary bleeding and I was using a razor blade doing V cuts. Definitely think id go with surgical scissors next time but the razor worked perfectly. Going to leave them alone now until all are out of the egg.

Congrats on the successful cut! I agree with surgical scissors; for me I feel like I have better control with them. I tried a razor blade once and felt like the blade could have easily slipped. Never again with a razor blade for me.

Sweet! I definitely think those little shapes were the inner layer scraped away by egg teeth as they were starting to pip.
