Dividing a tank

I'm a little confused.

When people here recommend adding plants, branches, etc, you have to make sure they're secure and that the snake won't knock them down. At the same time, people often recommend using a piece of cardboard to reduce the space in a large tank to make it more snug for a smaller snake. SInce you can't use tape inside the enclosure, how do you secure the cardboard well enough to keep the snake from knocking it down or squeezing past into the blocked off area?

On the same note, it seems to me that using cardboard for this would get old, since you'd have to replace it every time you clean the cage, no? Maybe a sturdy piece of plexi or something similar (ie, easy to clean) would be better?

Generally you use plexi glass and sealant or caulk.

Moonshae, I would definately use a glass divider and some silicone. When the snake gets big enough, you can cut the silicone, and remove the glass. Years ago, before i made the switch to racks, I kept all my balls in tanks. I tried to divide some, for the smaller guys, using those aquarium dividers, and ones made from plastic. It never worked. It was just a pia, cause I kept having to fix it. The snakes would push on it, and knock it down, or break the seal. Tanks became a headache for me when my collection grew. So, I just built me a rack, and I'll never go back to tanks again. If you plan on more than two snakes, I would definately invest in a rack.
