    Switching To rabbits

I finally found a breed of Meat Rabbits. I tried a prekilled rabbit and my burmese wouldnt touch it. I was wondering if there are any tips that yall can give me on feeding my burmese a live rabbit. I would to prevent as much suffering for the rabbit and at the same time prevent my snake from getting bitten

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Switching To rabbits

The best advice I can give is to keep trying with the frozen thawed or prekilled. Some burms, if given live, will not switch or can be even harder to get to switch. Also a live rabbit can do unbelievable amounts of damage to a burm-not only biting but their claws can scratch and rip open the skin. You may believe you can grab the legs and stop that but if the burm has a leg wrapped and the rabbit gets in that one last kick before it gets constricted to tight serious damage can be done.
Like I said-keep trying with the p/k or f/t-make sure the rabbit is very warm and if you have too make it wiggle around and move. If this doesn't work then you can always try and scent it with a rat. There are other things you can also try so keep us posted on how its going.

    Re: Switching To rabbits

well i tried dangling the rabbit in front of the snake. He would stick his face up close to it and flicker his tounge out a little bit and then would lose interest. I had to feed him so i gave him the jumbo rat that he is used to and he ate it very quickly and without a problem. He has been fed live prey all his life so i think its going to be VERY difficult to switch him to pk/ft. Ill keep trying because i deff dont want to have to visit the vets office do to a cut or puncture

    Re: Switching To rabbits

The feeding went well, feeding response was almost instant. But omg you should have seen the rabbit that i ordered from my feeder guy. He must have gotten his orders mixed up because when i went to pick it up it was the largest rabbit i have ever seen in my life. This thing was HUGE.

Kinda feel bad for the rabbit. I really wish i could get him to eat frozen thawed so i wouldnt have to deal with the screams and cries.

    but thanks for the advice

you could always build a co2 chamber or get some dry ice.
