    sqeezing

    so my ball is very docile but i have a question... when i hold her she generaly squeezes my hand for some time then stops and is calm....then repeat. sorry for my typing...i'm actully holding her now! does your snakes do this to

    All snakes will wrap around and grip to hold on to you when you're handling them. If she's squeezing hard then she might not feel secure enough and is trying to keep from falling. From how you described it though, it sounds pretty normal

    My snake never squeezes tightly and is very gentle. She doesn't even really strike at her food.
    I'd be careful with a snake that has a habit of squeezing tightly. When she gets larger, keep her away from your neck.

    I think it's a security issue. It's mostly my little ones that squeeze, but I do have one rather large female who just doesn't seem to relax like the others. My overgrown Pastel, on the other hand, is totally relaxed. He doesn't even wrap his tail. Just sorta hangs there.

    I think it's a personality trait, if snakes can have those. Some are just more relaxed than others.

    I have wondered about this before. My theory was that it had something to do with being able to feel your pulse and maybe it is just a natural reaction since they can probably feel their preys pulse when constricting...
