How long would a 10 gallon tank last?
If I started a new Ball with just a ten gallon tank about how long would it be before i had to get a bigger tank?
ANd same question if I start with a 15 gallon.

If it was a baby it would last it until it is 2 feet long and then it could live in a 30 gallon the rest of its life.

Re: How long would a 10 gallon tank last?
It will depend on several things like how big it is when you get it, feeding, and growth. My 10 month old BP is 31 inches. Seems like he hit a major growth spurt in the last couple of months. You might consider starting with a 20L which should last around a year, I would think. Mine is in a 29gal. Which, I believe, is like a 20L floor space but a few inches taller...

I get he tank you will keep it in the rest of it life ( be it a 20 long or a 30 long ) and just clutter it up with stuff to make it feel safe until it larger. I start all my snake in the 34 or 40 quart tubs, andjust place odd and end in there to make it feel smaller. ( they love the cd/dvd blank spindle covers ) I guess it the tightness of them lolI looking at some possible alrger tubs later cause I know soem of my large girls can't even strech out in the tubs and I think they all need a little room to roam when they bored, uncomfortable ( what ever reason) and what not.. I know i hate to be on the same side of the tub that I just too ka dump in lol..

Is the 29 gal what you are always gonna keep it in or are you gonna upgrade at all?

IMO, no adult ball python needs to be in anything larger than a 20g. If it's a 29, it might be a 29tall. I don't see very many 29longs. 29talls are a pain to keep humidity in (I have one) but they are the same floorspace as a 20g.
10-15g should last a year at least. When it starts to get into adulthood after a year/year and a half then I would move it up to a 20g.

Re: How long would a 10 gallon tank last?
For my one BP right now I got a 30L. It has a good floor space but a lot of wasted height that just takes up room. BP's aren't climber so they don't need that height. I was thinking of mabey getting a 20L for my next one once full grown. those are 30X12X12 i think. To me that sounds like a goo floor space. BP's spend almost all the time in their hides anyways so is more floor space really neccesary?

You are right, anything more than a 20L is really too much. Unless you have a female well over 2,000g, then you might want to move up a bit.

Re: How long would a 10 gallon tank last?
I have been thinking about this alot lately as it seems to come up often..... What kind of hide and water bowl do you guys use that could possibly fit in a 20g tank and be able to hold an adult python......
I was looking at the adults BP's for sale at the petshop and they were in 20g's and even balled up, were touching both sides of the enclosure, not to mention, they looked like a burmese stuck in a 75 gallon tank.
So, space to move aside as it seems apparent they dont need any, how do you fit even the bare minimums in such a small enclosure for a full grown BP?
