Im a new BP owner. I became interested in reptiles several years ago, but just got my first reptile ever on june 2nd, a baby Ball python. I am 19, and I really did not know much at all about keeping a ball; this forum has been a priceless source of information; a lot of what I was instructed to do for care at the pet stores was wrong, and I got it figured out here just by browsing the forums and creating a couple of threads. When I got my ball, he was small and would not eat at all. e did not eat for 6 or 7 weeks actually. After coming here with questions and getting help I changed some husbandry practices and from what I can tell he is happy, he is healthy, and is now an excellent eater, he is on a 7 day feeding schedule, and downs every adult mouse I give to him. The other day I was taking him out and holding him and I noticed that his eyes were getting cloudy and a shed might be close. I noticed on tuesday, I skipped a feeding day (feed day is thursday) and last night (sat. night) he shed. I tried to be as spot on as possible with my husbandry keeping humidity arund 70%. His shed was perfect. everything came off in one piece with no stuck areas whatsoever. I was really glad, this was our first shed. I feel good to because im a big DIYer, im working on a really limited budget as im in college and dont have much to spend on pets. I will put some pics up soon of Giuseppi (my bp) and his enclosure and shed. just wanted to say thanks BP.net!
