A pastel is a pastel. No line browns out more than another in my opinion. I've seen Nerd Lines brown and Blonde lines bright. It really depends on selective breeding and picking up a well chosen hatchling pastel.

I don't look for the lines, I look for the quality breeders and a quality animal.

It's not as much about the line then it is about the individual you pick, there is good looking and ugly looking pastels in every lines.

It's an individual thing. Any Pastel regardless of it's line may be bright, dark or either fade or not. Pastels existed in nature, they weren't created by breeding.

Ok thanks for the info but then how do you determine a good quality pastel(without looking at its parents)

Re: Which pastel browns out alot?

any orange on a pastel will turn into brown when it is an adult. without seeing the parents it would be hard though. if you are at an expo or something, just look for the brightest yellow pastel you can find (with the least orange/brown) you can find.

    hope this helps,
    Kevin

Re: Which pastel browns out alot?

I agree, it's more about the individual snake! I don't even know my pastel's line, since I got him from a small breeder around here (and forgot to ask). But his color is still beautiful at around a year old, and only seems to be getting brighter - plus his blushing is crazy nice. So just find one you like, and don't worry about the genetics.

I guess you just have to use your judgment... if it makes you go WOW, it's probably a nice one. Here's how my pastel looked when I first got him, and how he looks today (a few months later). I loved his broken/random pattern, and the contrast of the yellow with his light blushing. Maybe others won't agree, but I think he's a good example of the morph?

Three months later... (with some missing scales from his last shed)

Awesome Pastel! I think he is a really neat example of the morph!Thats definitely what I am looking for in a pastel! But I am in a bit of a dilemma. I like the orange on pastels but then I have read that is the part that usually browns out, but I like pastels with a lot of orange. I guess I can just get a pastel with no orange and lots of blushing, like yours. Besides, your own is SWEET!
