nearly 1 week in, wanna make sure...
I have had the eggs in the incubator since last friday, just want to make sure all is right.
According to the digi thermometer the temps fluxuate between 87.9f and 90.1 f. I am usinng an on off thermostat. This is the temps in the bator, no9t the egg box. I am going to reset thr min max on the thermometer and take the temp inside the egg box for a while.
Will this fluxuation be harmfull to the eggs?
also the eggs have a couple of dents in them, is this a worry? The humidity in the egg box is 99% according to the digi hygrometer., there is no condensation on the eggs or walls of the egg box.
If I need to boost humidity any will a spritz from a sprayer be ok, or is that too much humidity.
I candled agian and the veins are thicker so that should be a good sign.
how often should you open the egg box to allow for fresh air?
I was thinking 1 time a week.

The fluctuation isn't good, but if it's the best you can do, it should still work. I would put in LOTS of vermiculite, and bury the eggs good until a couple weeks before hatching. This will give them some insulation and protection from temperature fluctuations.

well that worries me, the temps were better before I added the thermostat. I check through the little window multiple times a day and it seems to be in the 88 degree range more often. when the temps are at 90,1 the thermostat turns the bator off then once it drops to 87.9 it turns it back on.

I use a on/off tstat on my incubator and if you put the thermometer probe in the egg box you will see it fluctuates less than 1 degree. I don't know what you are using for an incubator, but mine is a beverage fridge and temps in my egg boxes stays within .5 degrees.

its a hovabator 1602n.
I have the probe set up outside the egg box becuase i read that it was best to take the temps of the bator that way you know the egg box is right on. I kinda think that if the temp in the bator fluxuates a little that it is going to take time for the egg box to upper or lower its temp to match and by the time the egg box would have a chance to flux much the bators temp is correcting itself already.
if that made any sence.
