swallowing a rat when its still alive????

Has anyone seen this before??? It was crazy! You could still hear the ASF inside of him still breathing and jumping around. Is this safe?

Normally it doesn't happen because the bp will stop bloodflow in the prey's arteries. Maybe he didn't constrict enough?

I mean, there's nothing you could do about it once it was swallowed. Hopefully it won't happen again. I'd be scared crapless haha.

Yea we are glad it didnt hurt the snake...WEIRD

If the rat was still moving around it could pose a risk of it tearing something in the snake with its nails... You should make sure the rat is fully dead b4 the snake swallows it.. If its still moving a little and the snake is about to swallow it it, shake the mouse so the snake gets another coil and re-constricts it...

My garter snake eats frogs and fish whole and you can see them make him jump.
