Recently, I...
posted about my snake possibly having RI. My dad refused to take me to the vet until I was absolutely sure, so no vet yet. Currently, every once in a while, I'll hear a whistle come from his nose! He did this both before and after he was shed, and I was told it was some stuck piece of skin in his nostril. I think it might be because he doesn't do this all the time, is it best to wait and see if anymore symptoms of RI arise, because the vet is expensive and in this recession it might be best to make sure he's sick. This is the only out of the norm thing that he's been doing.

Some symptoms of RI's are opening their mouth alot to help them breathe, discharge coming from their nostrils, and popping and whistling noises. Maybe you are keeping him in a too wet or dry environment, use a digital hygrometer and check the humidity inside its tank and if it is too low bring it up and vice versa. You want the humidity to be between 50-70%.

They didn't state it was a stuck piece of shed, they stated it could be a stuck piece of shed. They're a few things you can do to try to help. Try to soak him for a bit in lukewarm water, and check in his nose, with maybe a light or so, to see if you can see anything.

Bump the temps up a couple degrees and make sure everything else is spot on. The first time you notice open mouth breathing, bubbles or mucous around his mouth or nostrils take him to the vet asap. When this starts happening it could get pretty serious fairly quick. Probably no reason to take him with an occasion wease, but once you know for sure the longer you wait the more it costs and the longer it takes to cure.
